About our Resin Bound Driveways

A smooth surface that drains, in a colour you will actually want to look at.

Natural stone is mixed with a clear UV-stable resin and trowelled over a solid base, so the whole mixture binds into one surface. No loose stone underfoot, nothing that washes away in a downpour.

It's fully permeable, which means rain goes straight through it rather than pooling or running off — that's what makes it SUDS-compliant, and for most properties it means you don't need a separate drain or soakaway put in. Works equally well on a new-build near Exeter or an older place out towards Honiton.

Why people go for resin.

With dozens of stone blends (or a mix made to match) and the advantage of excellent drainage, our resin driveways stay UV-stable and is the only surface we lay with two separate warranties stacked on it.

Colour Range

Dozens of stone blends available. If none of them quite lands, we'll mix something bespoke to match your property.

Permeability

No standing water and in most cases no extra drainage to sort out, making it perfect for widening a drive while staying SUDS-compliant.

UV Stability

The resin is UV-stable, so you're not watching the colour bleach out after a couple of summers like cheaper systems do.

Dual Warranties

15 years from the resin manufacturer, 5 from us on workmanship. The only surface we lay with two separate warranties stacked on it.
How we build it

The finish is only as good as what's underneath.

We use Daltex stone with a UV-stable resin; that pairing is what gives you the colour range and keeps it holding up over time rather than going patchy.

The bit that actually decides whether a resin drive lasts is the base, not the resin. Lay it over something soft or cracked, and it'll follow every flaw straight through to the surface within a year or two. If your existing base is solid, we can often overlay it and save you the excavation cost. If it isn't, we'll say so. Quoting the excavation properly beats laying something that looks fine for six months and then doesn't.

Most resin drives take a day to a week.

Overlaying a sound base is often done in a day. A full dig-out and rebuild is closer to a week. You'll know which one your drive needs after the survey, not halfway through the job.

What a resin bound drive costs

This is usually the most premium of the three we lay. You're paying for the stone, the resin, and a finish that's trowelled by hand rather than machine-laid. Overlaying an existing sound base costs a fair bit less than a full excavation, so it's worth having us check the base before assuming you need the full job. Quotes are itemised.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Not in any way you'd notice year to year. The resin's UV-stable, which is specifically what stops sunlight bleaching it out — that's the failure mode you see on older or cheaper resin drives, going pale and patchy after a few summers. South-facing drives that catch a lot of sun are exactly where a cheaper resin shows its age fastest, so if that's your situation, ask us about it at the survey. A resin bound installation will typically last about 20 years with proper maintenance.

Then we mix one. We carry a decent range of stone blends already, but plenty of jobs end up as a custom mix once someone's stood in their driveway with samples and decided the standard options are close but not quite right against their brickwork. Bring us a photo of the house if that helps.

Walk on it the next day, drive on it after about three days once it's cured properly. That timing shifts a bit with the weather — cold snaps slow the cure down — so we'll confirm the exact day on site rather than quoting you a fixed number in the office.

An installation from start to finish will take 1-2 days. This is dependant on factors such as the overall size of the project, if base preparation is needed, or unconditional circumstances occur.
